Australia’s peak body for transport professionals launches new name and look
August 2025
Australia’s peak industry body for transport professionals has a new name and look.
Formerly known as the Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management (AITPM), the national association will now be known as the Transport Professionals Association (TPA).
Transport Professionals Association CEO Kirsty Kelly said the new name also comes with a new look, which reflects the evolution of both the industry and the profession.
“We’ve proudly supported transport professionals for nearly 60 years. As the sector has grown and diversified, our identity needed a facelift to match the breadth of expertise we now represent,” Ms Kelly said. “This new name speaks directly to who we are and where we’re headed.”
The new look and name followed extensive consultation with members and stakeholders and was a key deliverable of their strategic plan for the next three years.
“Our Strategic Planning Working Group identified key priorities and actions to address the evolving needs of members, which included: a refresh of our brand; extending our reach in the communities in which we work within; and showcasing our profession as a viable and meaningful career for future generations,” Ms Kelly said.
“This also echoed what the board and our team have been hearing across the sector. Now, it’s time to get things moving, and the new name and brand is our first step.”
TPA’s membership has grown to more than 6,000 professionals, spanning government, consultancy, academia and industry. It includes professionals from every discipline involved in shaping Australia’s transport systems.
Ms Kelly said while the brand and name have been given a modern facelift, their focus remains the same.
“The board and I are 100% committed to providing guidance and support for transport professionals across Australia, so they are best placed to design, develop and shape safe, sustainable and thriving communities,” she said.
“Our new brand provides us with the right platform to get us there and to reach our key other priorities as outlined in the plan for the next three years.”
