TPA offers six types of Individual Membership depending on your background, experience and professional recognition.
Affiliate - $250 per year
Who it’s for:
For individuals with an interest in transport. Connect with professionals, expand your network and broaden your understanding of the sector through an inclusive community that welcomes different perspectives and shared learning.

Student - Undergraduate and Post-Graduate - Free
Who it’s for:
Free membership for students studying transport-related disciplines and looking to explore pathways into a profession focused on building safer, more sustainable and more accessible communities.
When you complete your studies, you will be transferred to Graduate membership.

Graduate - $95 per year
Who it’s for:
For recent graduates starting their transport career. Access opportunities to connect, learn and grow in a welcoming community that supports curiosity, confidence and capability.
Associate - $250 per year
Who it’s for:
For early-career professionals progressing to full membership. Build your network, gain visibility and develop your skills.
Member - $250 per year
Who it’s for:
For established professionals with at least 3 years working in the sector who want to connect, keep learning and shape better outcomes for communities through their work.
Fellow - $250 per year
Who it’s for:
For highly experienced professionals (10+ years) who have demonstrated leadership, contribution and professional impact.
Fellow status is attained through nomination and upgrade from Member status.

Retired Member/ Fellow - $37.50 per year
For Members and Fellows who have officially retired but would like to stay informed and connected to the industry.
'Retired' status is attained through contacting our Memberships Team.

Membership Period and Fees

All individual memberships run from 1 April to 31 March, regardless of join date.
Members are expected to abide by the TPA Code of Ethics, Professional Standards and National Code of Conduct.
Existing members can upgrade membership to higher grades and are also eligible for discounted rates upon retirement and in circumstances such as career and parenting breaks, or during hardship. Review our Membership Policy for more detail on each category.
Organisational Memberships are also available in the form of Local Government, Government or Corporate.
