Membership Categories and Pricing
TPA offers six types of Individual Membership depending on your background, experience and professional recognition.
Affiliate Member - $250 per year
Who it’s for:
Suitable for individuals interested in transport-related fields. There are no specific qualification or experience requirements for Affiliate membership.
Instant membership upon payment.
Student Member - Undergraduate and Post-Graduate - Free
Who it’s for:
Undergraduate and postgraduate students studying transport-related disciplines.
Students receive free membership while studying and access to all member learning, resources and EP activities.
When you complete your studies, you will be transferred to Graduate membership.
Graduate Member - $95 per year
Who it’s for:
For recent graduates from transport related course of study with less than 3 years' experience, building their experience in the transport sector.
Associate Member - $250 per year
Who it’s for:
For early career practitioners and professionals who have less than 3 years professional experience in the field of transport, including research, and are actively practicing in the field of transport.
Member - $250 per year
Who it’s for:
For established professionals with at least three years of appropriate professional experience in transport planning, traffic management or related fields.
Fellow - $250 per year
Who it’s for:
For highly experienced professionals (10+ years) who have demonstrated leadership, contribution and professional impact.
Fellow status is attained through nomination and upgrade from Member status.

Membership Period and Fees

All individual memberships run from 1 April to 31 March, regardless of join date.

A one-time $30 application fee applies to new Individual Membership applications.
(This fee does not apply when changing categories.)

Members are expected to abide by the TPA Code of Ethics, Professional Standards and National Code of Conduct.
Existing members can upgrade membership to higher grades and are also eligible for discounted rates upon retirement and in circumstances such as career and parenting breaks, or during hardship. Review our Membership Policy for more detail on each category.
Organisational Memberships are also available in the form of Local Government, Government or Corporate.
