Inclusive Mobility Program
Our vision for inclusive mobility
Our vision is for equitable mobility and access for all people regardless of their ability, background or circumstance.
Through our Inclusive Mobility Program, we will lead the transport community to create inclusive places, systems and networks.
As the national association for transport professionals, we are focused on leading members to connect, collaborate, and participate to advance their skills, capability and knowledge to support a good transport system and great places.
We support a vision of a sustainable, efficient, safe and accessible transport system. Inclusivity is a key challenge underpinning this vision and the Inclusive Mobility Program aims to shape progress towards delivering this vision.

The Inclusive Mobility Program established a framework to:
- Elevate the discourse on Inclusive Mobility – raising awareness of the challenges, opportunities and actions in our industry and our communities
- Establish and embed processes for collaboration and advocacy within our industry and with government agencies
- Drive improvements in standards, guidelines, planning, design and delivery of infrastructure and services that support inclusive mobility outcomes
- Enable long-term, meaningful societal change for our communities, cities, regions where we live, work, play.

Practitioner perspectives
In 2025, TPA ran two engagement processes exploring transport practitioner perspectives on access to the transport system:
- A survey of 125 people, primarily TPA members, based on their personal travel experiences.
- A collaborative exercise during the Inclusive Mobility Workshop at the National Transport Conference in Adelaide.
The objective was to build greater understanding within the profession of practical barriers to mobility, by inviting practitioners to reflect on their own experiences.
The resulting report provides a comprehensive picture of the results, including selected quotes from survey participants, providing the human perspective on factors that serve to exclude people from the transport system.
Task group
A Task Group has been established to drive the collation and development of research and ideas related to these themes.
