About this event
Join us as Transport for NSW provides a Transport Professionals Association (formerly AITPM) member briefing on the review of the NSW Roads Act, including a discussion on its implications for traffic engineering and transport planning in NSW.
The review is to ensure it is modern, adaptable, and meets future transport and community needs. Key priorities include updating the 30-year-old legislation to reflect contemporary road usage, simplifying processes for faster decision-making, and ensuring inclusivity for all road user.

Graham McCabe | Founder | Step Advisory
Graham is the NSW branch president of TPA and founder of STEP Advisory. Graham has 30 years of experience working across State and local government and the private sector. He brings a depth of experience to traffic engineering and transport planning and has been representing the TPA on the review Project Reference Advisory Group.
Sue Haertsch | Acting Executive Director - Statewide Outcomes | Transport for NSW
Sue is currently Acting Executive Director, Statewide Outcomes in TfNSW’s Transport Planning branch.
Sue is a land use planner and has worked across all levels of government, and the private sector. She ran a small planning consultancy before joining TfNSW in 2012 to manage planning approvals for the North West Rail Link. Sue continued to work at Sydney Metro for the next 12 years leading the precinct and place inputs to the City & South West business case, and the design excellence program for the new city stations. She then led Sydney Metro’s project development team and business cases for metro extensions and new stations. During 2024 / 25 Sue led a team supporting the Commonwealth’s High Speed Rail Authority as Project Director for the Newcastle to Sydney business case. Sue is passionate about public transport and particularly loves trains. She drives as little as possible and is able to get Newcastle, where she now lives, on foot and bike.
Ben Cebuliak | Manager - Movement and Place | Transport for NSW
Ben Cebuliak has worked as an urban planner within the public, private and research sectors at the federal, state and local levels in both Australia and Canada.
Ben is the Manager Movement and Place at Transport for NSW and has been involved in the development of this whole of Government framework for the past decade. This has included the recent publication of the NSW Design of Roads and Streets manual as well as a leadership role in Cross-agency team to review the NSW Roads Act 1999.
