About our new name
Since the 28 August 2025, AITPM has become known as Transport Professionals Association.
Why Transport Professionals Association?
Our sector has evolved over the past six decades – and so too has our profession.
We’ve been known as AITPM since 1981. It was Australian Institute of Traffic Technology prior to that, with the current logo adopted in 2013.
Through extensive consultation with our members and key sector stakeholders, it was decided we needed a name that better reflected our association – both now and in the future.
Transport Professionals Association (TPA) was selected as our new name as it clearly reflects exactly who we are and who we proudly represent.
Why the tagline “Shaping every journey”?
The tagline embodies our dual focus: we are passionate about shaping the individual professional journey of our members, while collectively working towards advancing the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of every journey taken across Australia’s transport networks.
The choice of the word “shaping” is deliberate. It reflects how we actively support and guide our valued members throughout their career by providing continuous learning, collaboration, networking and mentoring. No matter the stage of their career, every member is supported, which empowers them to contribute and shape the industry on a wider scale.
At the same time, the tagline underscores the association’s broader mission: influencing and improving every journey that takes place on transport networks nationwide. From the individual commuter’s daily travel to the complex logistics that drive the Australian economy, every journey is important.
Our members share a collective commitment to shaping safer, more reliable, and innovative transport systems that assist in creating thriving communities across Australia.
We are actively shaping and guiding the future of the industry.
Why the change?
The decision to change our name was based on extensive engagement and through a collaborative process with members and stakeholders
This included hundreds of responses to a survey, one-on-one interviews, focus groups and considered input of 25 Strategic Planning Working Group members.
Further to this, we regularly received feedback saying it was time to update the name and look.
How does this connect to other strategic focuses?
All decisions – from the look and feel to the new name – were positioned to align to our purpose, mission, vision and strategic plan.
With the new name, are you changing the constitution?
Our entity and constitution will remain as AITPM, but we will be trading as Transport Professionals Association.
What do I need to do?
The only thing you need to do is swap out the new logo on any areas where you list you are a proud member of our industry association.
And, importantly, share the good news with your peers.
How will the brand be rolled out?
The brand was launched at this year’s AGM and will be visible at the 2025 national conference.
We will be updating all assets in a staged manner from thereon.
