Speakers
Ken Duetscher | Strategic Transport Planner and Business Case Consultant
Ken is an internationally experienced transport planning and public transport expert who has a proven record of success in gaining approval of and delivering major transport initiatives. He has been central to many of the important transport initiatives in south-east Queensland over the past 30 years, including:
- Gold Coast Light Rail which he conceived in 1997 as part of the city’s first integrated transport plan and has worked in key roles on all four stages thus far. The initial business case included full appraisal of light rail and bus rapid transit options, with light rail eventually preferred.
- Establishment of the regional public transport authority TransLink where he led the process to design the planning regime and contracting framework, to support an integrated fares regime.
- Development of Brisbane’s busways plan as part of south-east Queensland’s first integrated transport plan which he directed and authored.
Ken has held senior transport executive positions in government as well as the private sector. This includes program management for major government infrastructure investment programs. He now provides strategic transport planning and business case development services as an expert consultant
Nick Prasser | Transport Infrastructure Planning Leader | City of Gold Coast
Nick is a transport planning professional with nearly 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. As the Transport Planning Manager for the City of Gold Coast since 2019, he drives the strategic direction and sustainable advancement of the Gold Coast's transport system. Nick leads a team of municipal experts responsible for forward planning across transport strategy, parking policy, community transport partnerships, road system and active and public transport infrastructure development. Accountable for capital investment programming and translating high-level ideas into well-defined, feasible and value for money projects ready for delivery.
Naomi Langdon | Director - Road Tram and Active Transport Planning | Department of Transport and Planning Victoria
Ms Langdon has served in a range of leadership positions within Victoria’s Department of Transport and Planning and is currently serving as a Director of the Board of TPA. In her current role as Director of Roads, Active Transport and Tram Planning, she is responsible for multimodal network development and long-term strategic planning. In these roles, she has led the creation of Victoria’s Bus Plan and Melbourne’s Tram Plan, helped secure funding for infrastructure and service changes, and shaped the policies and plans that will guide the network for decades to come. Ms Langdon’s career has been shaped by a love of problem-solving, a commitment to equity and accessibility, and a belief in the power of public and active transport to transform lives.
