The Australian Transport Assessment and Planning (ATAP) Guidelines (known as the National Guidelines for Transport System Management before 2016) have played an important role since 2004 when they were first published. In September 2021 a number of new and updated pieces of ATAP guidance were published. Following the completion of a review in 2021, a new program for maintaining and improving the Guidelines has approved. The presentation will provide an over of these recent developments.

The AITPM SA Branch and Transport Modelling Network (TMN) is proud to provide this special workshop event. The Department for Infrastructure and Transport has recently released their SIDRA guidelines for SIDRA 9. This is an opportunity for practitioners (experienced and aspiring) to come along and learn about the new guidelines and how to apply them when building and calibrating a SIDRA 9 model. High-level and static data is often relied upon to inform our understanding and thus how we plan, but cities are dynamic and accessing comprehensive real-time geodata has not been easy – until now. People movement data not only provides insights to how people are moving around places, but also offers insights into how long people are spending in certain areas, where they’ve come from, travel patterns over time, and so on. Most importantly, this data can provide the evidence behind people-orientated planning.
