Eligibility
In accordance with the Branch and Network Charter, members of any individual membership grades or members via an organisational membership, are eligible to nominate and serve on Branch and Network Committees of TPA.

Expectations of Committee Members
Being a member of a TPA Committee is a great opportunity to engage within the industry, build connections, to grow your experience and to give back to your professional community, but it also involves a level of personal and professional commitment.
- It is expected that you will attend and actively contribute to all regular committee meetings (generally monthly and held either in person, virtually or bybrid) or will give reasonable notice if unable to attend.
- Each committee member should be responsible for, or involved in, the organisation of at least two activities each year - such technical or networking events, policy submissions, advocacy activities etc.
- Committee members are also encouraged to engage in activities that promote the profile of TPA and the transport community, including engaging with members and external stakeholders. This may include attending events (TPA or external events), activities with stakeholders such as local universities, or workshops with government and/or other industry and professional bodies.
- Committee members may also be involved in seeking sponsorship for TPA activities and in promoting memberships.
Volunteering with TPA is intended to be positive and rewarding experience, and we support and encourage diverse and inclusive committees. Where any committee member has specific needs to support their access to and inclusion in any committee or TPA activities, we encourage that member (or other members of the committee) to advise of that need so that we can support their successful inclusion and involvement with TPA.

Committee members are also expected to act in the best interests of TPA, to declare and manage any real or perceived conflicts of interest, and to abide by the TPA Code of Conduct.

Branch (and Sub-Branch) Committee Nominations
Each Branch has a committee to support the organisation and delivery of events, policy and advocacy, and member services within the region covered by the Branch.
The Branches are:
- New South Wales & ACT
- Victoria & Tasmania
- South Australia
- Western Australia
- Queensland
Queensland also has a Gold Coast sub-branch.
Terms on the committees are for two (2) years.
Where the number of nominees received exceeds then number of vacancies available, an electronic ballot will be conducted.
When completing the nomination form we require you to provide a written statement (maximum 200 words) to support your nomination which, in the event of an election for the Committee, will be displayed publicly. Your statement should explain why you wish to join the committee and outline the skills and experience you would bring.
The form also asks you to indicate the key types of activities that you will committee to actively supporting and delivering during your term eg events, policy, advocacy, university engagement, member services etc.
Emerging Professional Network (EPN) Committee Nominations
Each Branch has an Emerging Professional Network Committee to support the organisation and delivery of events and services to support students and professionals early (first 10 years) in their transport careers.
The Branches are:
- Queensland
- New South Wales & ACT
- Victoria & Tasmania
- Western Australia
- South Australia - Please note that South Australia does not currently have an EPN committee, however if there is sufficient interest, an EPN committee can form.
Terms on the committees are for two (2 )years.
Where the number of nominees received exceeds then number of vacancies available, an electronic ballot will be conducted.
When completing the nomination form we encourage you to provide a written statement (maximum 200 words) to support your nomination which, in the event of an election for the Committee, will be displayed publicly. Your statement should explain why you wish to join the committee and outline the skills, experience and ideas you would bring to the EPN Committee.
Transport Modelling Network (TMN) Committee Nominations
The Transport Modelling Network (TMN) is a national committee which is composed of 2 elected representatives from every state and territory in Australia.
TMN representatives are also co-opted automatically as members of their relevant Branch Committee, and are expected to work collaboratively with the Branch in the delivery of TMN related events and policy matters at a state/territory level.
Terms are two (2 )years.
When completing the nomination form we require you to provide additional information to support your nomination which, in the event of an election for the TMN Committee, will be displayed publicly. This information should include:
- Why you want to be involved in the Transport Modelling Network;
- What personal attributes and insights you would you bring; and
- Your relevant experience and/or background in land use modelling.
