About the framework
Transport is getting more complex, and the profession needs a shared view of what good practice looks like for transport professionals. TPA has developed the Transport Professionals Competency Framework to change that. It gives members, employers and educators a common reference point for the skills the profession needs now and into the future. We want your input before it is finalised.
The framework defines professional capability for transport professionals. It sets out the competencies and knowledge across and within the disciplines of transport planning, transport modelling and transport engineering and is intended to support career development, align tertiary education with contemporary practice, guide CPD and inform potential future professional recognition pathways.
What we are seeking feedback on
The consultation has two parts.
The content of the framework. Do the competencies and knowledge areas reflect contemporary transport practice? Is anything missing, unclear or out of place?
How the framework should be applied. Which competencies are essential and which are desirable? What level of knowledge is appropriate? Would a professional recognition pathway be valuable to you, your employer and the sector.
