Join us for an in‑person event co-hosted by Transport Professionals Association and YIPWEA bringing together Government leaders, transport professionals, and sustainability specialists to explore how South Australia can deliver greener streets, connected communities, and smarter transport networks. We’ll kick off with lightning talks from local speakers, then head outside for the annual ‘SA lawn bowls championship’ and networking.
What to expect:
- Spotlight talks from local government and the transport leaders on practical innovation, climate change and resilience and green community infrastructure and transport networks.
- Real case studies - from main streets to green corridors—showing what’s working now in SA and what we could be doing better.

John Devney | Principal Engineer – Transport | Tonkin
Presentation Topic | Planning for Safer Connected Bicycle Networks
John is a Civil Engineer and Transport Planner with over 40 years’ experience in planning integrated transport systems that includes infrastructure concept planning for safer bicycle networks.
Most recently, he has developed bicycle network plans with stakeholder and community engagement-led outcomes for various Councils across South Australia, with the most recent Councils including City of Burnside, City of Prospect, Light Regional Council and City of Tea Tree Gully.
John will provide valuable insights in the work involved in planning and developing bicycle network plans for local government.
Andrew King | Business Lead Engineering Services | City of West Torrens
Presentation Topic | Green Infrastructure Initiatives at City of West Torrens
Andrew is a civil engineer with extensive experience across local, state and federal government as well as private practice. He currently works as the Business Lead for Engineering Services at the City of West Torrens in Adelaide.
Andrew has been a long-standing chair within the stormwater sector and he has contributed to many state and national stormwater committees, working groups and professional networks. He is recognised for driving improved practice, stronger capability guidelines and clearer legislation relating to stormwater management, water sensitive urban design, public infrastructure and connected technical fields.
As part of this presentation, Andrew will discuss the initiatives City of West Torrens has implemented to improve the environmental sustainability of Council.
Bill Zhang | Founder and Managing Director | Be Engineering
Bill is the founder and Managing Director of Be Engineering Solutions Pty Ltd, bringing more than 27 years of extensive experience across State Government, Local Government, and the private sector. His expertise spans nearly every aspect of engineering, including strategic planning, feasibility studies, concept and detailed design, project management, contract management, and cost management. Bill’s comprehensive knowledge and leadership underpin BEES' reputation for delivering innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
